Adoption Process
PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING AN ADOPTION APPLICATION.
ADOPTION PROCESS OVERVIEW
At Caring Animal Rescue Inc., we believe every animal deserves a loving home.
To ensure successful, lifelong pairings, we carefully assess each animal's unique behavior and match them with a potential adopter's lifestyle. Not every pet is the right fit for every household, and we look for the best match for the
animal.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for adoption, you must meet the following baseline criteria:
Complete Application: All online forms must be filled out entirely to be processed.
Verifiable References:
You must provide verifiable vet, landlord, and personal character references.
Background Verification: We cross-check property records for homeowners and review lease agreements for tenants.
Current Home Status: All existing pets in your household must be fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered.
Kitten Policy:
Kittens under 10 months old must be adopted in pairs unless an existing cat already lives in the home.
Location Limit: We only adopt to families living within a 25-mile radius of our facility.
We are not currently accepting out-of-state applications.
STEP-BY-STEP ADOPTION PROCESS
Our rescue is run entirely by passionate volunteers who dedicate their time outside of their 9-to-5 jobs. We process every application with the best interest of our animals in mind.
Submit Application:
Fill out the online paperwork completely via our Adoption Application Page (link below).
Screening:
Volunteers review your submission and contact your landlord, vet, and character references.
Interview: Please check your spam folder. We will only notify applicants who are approved to move forward. We will reach out for a phone or email interview.
Initial Meet & Greet:
If approved, we will schedule a visit to our facility.
All household members—including children, roommates, and resident dogs—must attend.
Home Visit & Pet Introduction: We conduct an at-home visit to ensure a safe environment and verify that all resident humans and pets get along.
Finalization: I
f the home visit is successful, you will sign the official adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
ADOPTION FEE BREAKDOWN
Every dollar from our adoption fees goes directly toward the shelter, daily care, and medical needs of our animals.
Payment Methods: We accept cash, checks, Venmo, or PayPal.
Please note: Venmo and PayPal payments incur an additional $5 or 4% processing fee - whichever is greater.
What Your Adoption Fee Covers:
For Dogs:
Age-appropriate vaccinations (Rabies for dogs 3-4 months+, DA2PP, and Bordetella)
Spay or neuter surgery
Heartworm Snap Test (for dogs 6 months and older)
Microchip
Deworming treatment
Flea/tick preventative at intake, heartworm medication, and antibiotics (if needed) while in our care.
For Cats:
Age-appropriate vaccinations (Rabies for cats 3-4 months+ and FVRCP)
Spay or neuter surgery
FeLV/FIV testing
Microchip
Deworming treatment
Flea/tick preventative at intake
Antibiotics (if needed) while in our care
